Piper restaurant, located at The Seabird Resort in sunny Oceanside, CA. Guest enjoy fresh, garden-to-table delicacies in a bright, convivial, California-coastal setting just off the beach. Restaurant is open in the morning for breakfast and freshly pressed juice. By night, Piper transforms into a warmly intimate space with an open kitchen, full bar and wraparound outdoor patio.
Pastry Chef will be responsible for all pastry and bakery products, including the efficiency of the pastry department. The Pastry Chef will work directly with the Executive Chef in featuring new recipes to the menu. They will prepare a variety of desserts, pastries and other sweet goods. The ideal candidate will be well versed in culinary arts and have a passion for culinary art with a passion for sweets. The Pastry Chef will function as a leader ensuring they contribute to the overall success of outlets. They will also lead a team of cooks within the pastry department and ensure they are meeting the proper procedures and protocols.
This is a salaried position ranging from $66,560. - $85,000.

Responsibilities
Operate and manage the pastry section of a kitchen, working together with the other chefs
Prepare a variety of baked goods for all outlets
Decorate and present pastries and baked goods in a tasteful and beautiful way
Monitor and order ingredients, supplies and equipment
Custom-made desserts or baked goods for special occasions
Ensure the bakery section of the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations
Identify staffing needs, help to recruit new personnel and train them
Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends

Qualifications
3 years of experience as pastry chef in a casual or fine dining restaurant.
A Degree in Gastronomy or Pastry specialization.
Hospitality experience highly preferred.
Able to work single station in the kitchen.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must have great communication and leadership skills
Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and practices an occupational health and safety standards
Must be available Full -Time AM and PM shifts, including holidays and weekends
Must posses the following strengths: leadership and service attitude, excellent time management, team player
Must have Food Handlers certifications.
